Job Description

 

Job Title: Delivery Driver/Merchandiser

Reports To: Sales Executive

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

 

Summary: Drives truck or automobile over established route to deliver products or render services, collects money from customers, and makes change by performing the following duties.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1. Drives truck to deliver such items as beer, soft drinks, bakery products, dry cleaning, laundry, specialty foods, and medical supplies to customer's home or place of business.*

 

  1. Collects money from customers, makes change, and records transactions on customer receipt.*

 

  1. Secures customer payments as directed, and notifies management of deviation in payment procedures.*

 

  1. Listens to and resolves service complaints.*

 

  1. Places stock on shelves or racks.*

 

  1. Sets up merchandise and sales promotion displays or issues sales promotion materials to customers.*

 

  1. Collects or picks up empty containers or rejected or unsold merchandise.*

 

  1. Loads truck when necessary.*

 

  1. Performs routine maintenance on truck.*

 

  1. Provides good on-site customer service such as, following through on all aspects of service, troubleshooting and resolving problems, remaining courteous, friendly, helpful and informative at all times.*

 

  1. Ensures account numbers are recorded on all submitted customer payments.*

 

  1. Issues or obtains customer signature or monies on receipt for pickup or delivery.*

 

  1. Cleans inside of truck.*

 

 

Qualifications:

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Certificates and Licenses:

Valid driver's license
